Released just 3 months after the iPhone 4 it inherits the most significant upgrades such as the Retina Display at the unbeaten resolution of 960 by 640 pixels for an image quality of 326ppi. This is a big upgrade from the previous 320 by 480 pixels at 163ppi of the 3rd generation which also did not have the new rear-facing camera that can record video at HD 720p resolution at 30fps and the front-facing camera for FaceTime video calls.
